Dr. Douglas A. Rust – Dentist at Paradigm Dental
Dr. Douglas A. Rust is a Portland native, and he went to Portland State University to get his undergraduate degree in 1973. He also graduated from Oregon Health and Science University Dental School in 1980. Dr. Rust is in his fourth decade of caring for patients in the Beaverton and Southwest Portland area. He always continues his education as a dentist and stays up to date on the latest in oral health.
In his youth, Dr. Rust wanted to be a dentist because he loved helping people, and he wanted to make a career out of it. At OHSU, he was privileged to work with exceptional teachers and mentors who stressed the importance of careful service and also excellence in dentistry.
As a general dentist, Dr. Rust practices a wide variety of dental procedures and techniques that lets him serve a huge range of patient needs. He offers a number of services, both typical and specialized, ranging from fillings to crowns, root canals, bridges, surgical extractions, etc., but Dr. Rust tries to escape old, aged methods as much as possible. He especially tries to stay abreast of modern advances and training that allows him to always provide great service across the range of patient needs he’s presented with.
Early in his career, Dr. Rust became certified in straight-wire orthodontics and has also kept up with the latest advances in Invisalign and ClearCorrect technology. Embracing new technology, he moved away from straight-wire treatments and has done well over 300 cases of Invisalign.
Dr. Rust’s favorite thing about his job is that he gets to help people take care of themselves. If someone comes in with a chipped tooth, he repairs it. If someone comes in with a toothache, he gets to take care of it. When he comes into the office every day, he has the opportunity to help people improve their smiles and improve their health. He’s excited by the prospect of improving technology in the dental industry, particularly the use of lasers.

DANA
Dana has worked with Dr. Rust for 10 years and has been at Paradigm Dental for 5 of those years. She’s an Oregon native, with an assisting degree from Pacific Community College. Dana loves athletic activities including Pilates and Barre, but she mostly loves spending time with her family by traveling to Bend on the weekends, taking road trips, and enjoying the amazing Oregon weather. Dana loves Dr. Rust’s sense of humor, and, amazingly, Dana stands at about 10 ft. tall!
DENTAL ASSISTANT
MARISSA
Marissa grew up in Astoria, Oregon, and has scarcely strayed in her professional career from the great state since. She attended Knappa High School in Astoria, and later Anthem College in Beaverton. Currently a dental assistant at Paradigm Dental, she’s been working in dentistry for seven years in total, two of those spent working at a front desk job. In other words, she has worked with patients in more than one capacity – she’s definitely a people person!
When she’s not in the office, you can find Marissa snowboarding, going out for tacos, or hanging out with her friends and family. She and her husband (who she’s been with for 12 years) own a 2012 Subaru WRX, which they take to shows. They also sometimes take it to the Portland International Raceway to race!
Marissa is the proud mom of two cats, Greddy and Rubie. She loves her coworkers at Paradigm Dental, and she likes that Dr. Rust keeps up with the latest technology. She enjoys working for such a great dentist.
